Wedding Fever, getting a fresh perspective

Last summer Matt proposed and I got to finally start not just dreaming but actually planning our wedding!! When we found out we were expecting another little bundle of joy I decided to put wedding planning on hold until after our baby was born and things had settled down a bit. Now that Jacy is home and we are getting back in to our routine I have been able to start toying around with some ideas again!!! I must admit that I quickly got caught up in the idea of a big wedding, one that would involve traveling to the ocean and spending the entire weekend celebrating and then immediately going on to our honeymoon for a week.  After toying around with some big ideas it sort of hit me that I may have gotten a bit carried away. I mean a wedding is a day to celebrate your love and to commit to spending the rest of your lives together. It should be beautiful, fun and full of moments you can treasure for the rest of your lives.  It is a day that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to go into debt to have what you see in magazines and on TV. Everyone celebrates in their own unique way and a fairytale wedding is what you make it. Fairy tale and happily ever after are relative terms that vary in meaning depending on the person. So upon that realization I have decided that I don’t need to to try and break the bank to compete with more glamorous weddings. Glamour really isn’t something I associate with love and happily ever after anyway. What I love is Matt, and the idea of spending the rest of my life with him. I love our family and our friends and the idea of spending a day being surrounded by those we care about and celebrating our shared happiness. So with that in mind we have decided that our wedding is going to take place in Vermont so that everyone we want to be there can be and so that we can be married in the state where we met and fell in love! We have now started looking at some venues and have narrowed down a couple that we think would be perfect! I am hoping to find a picturesque venue either by the lake or in the mountains overlooking the lake. Going to the beach and snowboarding are some of the activities we have loved doing together so it seems fitting that we would celebrate with those in mind 🙂 I love the idea of getting married outdoors and having an outdoor reception somewhere that people can dance and do other fun activities 🙂 Now that we have decided on those things the real wedding planning has officially begun!!
